James and Greenwood to start, Predicted Man United lineup (4-2-3-1) to face Inter Milan

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be aiming to offer more playing time to some players when the Red Devils face Inter Milan in the International Champions Cup this afternoon. The United tactician has opted for completely different starting lineups for either half of the friendly wins over Perth Glory and Leeds United, but that trend is likely to change against Inter, as confirmed by the Norwegian himself. Formation: 4-2-3-1 Predicted Lineup: David de Gea has missed the opening two pre-season games due to fitness concerns but Solskjaer has confirmed that he will be fit for the Nerazzurri clash. He should start between the sticks. Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are certainly the undisputed choices for the left and right-back positions respectively and we expect the duo to feature from the beginning. At the heart of the backline, Victor Lindelof should take up one of the slots and we are anticipating him to partner Chris Smalling, who was one of Solskjaer’s preferred picks during the backend of last season. In the midfield, Solskjaer may likewise go with the experience and Nemanja Matic is likely to take up the defensive midfield role with Paul Pogba, who produced a dominant showing against Leeds, featuring just ahead of him. Further forward, Jesse Lingard could get another run in the number 10 role, but the England international surely needs a strong performance in order to stake a claim for a starting spot when the new season begins. Upfront, Solskjaer is likely to go with the youthful trio of Daniel James, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood. Both James and Greenwood have impressed with their tireless workrate and they seem to represent Solskjaer’s ambition of high-pressing football for the forthcoming campaign. On the other hand, Rashford has started the pre-season on a strong note with goals in back-to-back friendlies and he needs to keep up the momentum, considering he could be leading the line for the season’s curtain raiser next month. Predicted Lineup: David de Gea, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Mason Greenwood, Daniel James, Marcus Rashford
