Jadon Sancho’s match winning display for Dortmund is good news for Man Utd

Manchester United attacker Jadon Sancho continued his good form at Borussia Dortmund by helping them progress to the quarter-final stage of the Champions League.

The 23-year-old rejoined the Bundesliga outfit on loan in January after falling out-of-favour with manager Erik ten Hag following a public outburst in September last year.

The England star has had a good comeback with four goal contributions. He scored his maiden goal last weekend and replicated the feat against PSV Eindhoven last night.

The scores were level at 1-1 after the first leg of the round of 16 tie. Sancho helped Dortmund race into an early lead, scoring from the edge of the box in the third minute.

His goal proved crucial for the German outfit. They managed to hold onto their slender advantage until the final seconds where Marco Reus scored from a defensive error.

Aside from his early strike, Sancho made seven ball recoveries and won four duels. He also created two chances for his teammates while managing a couple of take-ons.

His all-round performance should be good news for United. The hierarchy have a clear plan to sanction his sale following his return from the temporary stint with Dortmund.

They will have to cut their losses on the £73 million spent three years ago.

He is currently valued at just £21m by Transfermarkt, but the Red Devils will be hoping to recoup at least £40-50m if he can continue making goal contributions on loan.

A major stumbling block will obviously be his wages. United may need to hand Sancho with a good pay-off in order for him to accept a significant salary cut elsewhere.
