Iraola ruled out of Man United job, Carrick now in pole position

Manager Andoni Iraola has been linked with the Manchester United managerial position. He is set to leave Bournemouth at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Iraola guided Bournemouth to their highest points tally in the Premier League last season and could now lead them to their first-ever European qualification this term.

Despite his success with the Cherries, he is no longer in contention for the United job, according to The Daily Mail.

Chelsea could now snap up the Spaniard, as he is also under consideration for their managerial position.

Described as ‘phenomenal‘ by Bournemouth centre-back James Hill, Iraola is also Crystal Palace’s top target to replace Oliver Glasner.

Michael Carrick in pole position to become United permanent manager

Carrick is now said to be on the verge of becoming United’s permanent boss, after impressing in an interim role. His appointment could be announced before the end of the season.

He will reportedly be given a contract along with his backroom staff of Steve Holland, Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans and Travis Binnion.

Carrick has guided United to Champions League qualification after beating arch-rivals Liverpool 3-2 at Old Trafford.

The former midfielder has instilled belief in the United squad, bringing the best out of players such as Kobbie Mainoo, who was a squad player under Ruben Amorim.

Mainoo, Amad Diallo, Casemiro and Matheus Cunha had all called for his permanent appointment — a testament to the trust he has earned from the squad.

Since his appointment in January, United have won 10, drawn three and lost two Premier League games — the best record in the division within that time.

INEOS will now be hoping that the former midfielder can build on this season’s success as United aim to compete across all competitions next term.
