Manchester United are likely to make multiple signings during the summer transfer window and part of the focus could be on bolstering the right-back department.
The club currently have Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot as their right-back options, but the former is likely to be sold with his contract expiring in June next year.
United have already been linked with multiple names and Tuttosport today claim that Denzel Dumfries would be interested in making the switch to Old Trafford.
The Netherlands international will enter the final year of his Inter contract this summer. The Nerazzurri are prepared to sell him for around €30-35 million.
As things stand, the Red Devils have not made any approach for the former PSV Eindhoven man. It is claimed that everything is silent at the moment.
United unlikely to enter the race for Dumfries
The 28-year-old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford since Erik ten Hag’s arrival as manager.
It was reported that he could replace Wan-Bissaka at the start of 2023, but the Englishman went on to have a strong end to the campaign under Ten Hag.
Wan-Bissaka has struggled to replicate the same level of performances this term. He has had an injury-plagued season and could leave for a cut-price fee.
Despite this, we don’t see United considering a deal for Dumfries. The Dutchman is an electrifying attacking full-back compared to Wan-Bissaka, who is defensively stronger.
However, he is already 28 years of age and could be past his prime in two or three seasons.
The new hierarchy under Sir Jim Ratcliffe could prefer a younger recruit. United have been fancied to make an ambitious move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong.
