Injury update from Manchester derby

Manchester United suffered an injury in Sunday’s 2-1 loss to Manchester City in the derby.

Centre-back Marcos Rojo suffered a nasty cut to his head just before half-time following a clash with David Silva.

The Argentine temporarily left the pitch at the time to receive treatment before finishing the first half.

However, Rojo did not come out for the second half and was replaced by Victor Lindelof.  Both players had a fine 45 minutes and weren’t involved in either of the two scrappy goals that we conceded.

We face Bournemouth on Wednesday night and it is not yet known whether Marcos Rojo will be fit to face the Cherries.  An update on the official Manchester United said:

“It remains to be seen whether he [Rojo] will be fit to face Bournemouth at Old Trafford in midweek.”

Phil Jones returned to the bench over the weekend for the first time since being injured during the last international break in mid-November.  It is possible that Jose Mourinho will reunite Jones and Chris Smalling on Wednesday night to give Marcos Rojo additional time to recover.
