Manchester United are scheduled to face Everton in Sunday’s Premier League clash at Goodison Park. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have remained unbeaten for seven matches in all competitions and they go into the Toffees clash with confidence after a convincing 5-0 win over Club Brugge in the second leg of the Europa League round of 32 tie.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Lineup:
David de Gea has been the undisputed choice in goal over the course of the Premier League campaign and no changes are expected for the forthcoming clash in Merseyside. De Gea has kept clean sheets in each of the previous four league games.
In the defence, Solskjaer should revert to the regular combination. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw will definitely take up the right and left-back positions respectively. Eric Bailly should drop to the bench after the midweek appearance in the Europa League. Victor Lindelof should replace the Ivorian and hence accompany Harry Maguire at the heart of the backline.
In the centre of the park, Fred is a definite starter. The Brazilian recently ended a five-month goal drought as he scored a brace during the final 10 minutes of the Club Brugge clash on Thursday night. He could be partnered by Nemanja Matic, who was an unused substitute in midweek.
Scott McTominay did fare impressively with a goal on his comeback but Solskjaer is unlikely to start the midfielder for the second-straight game in four days, given he has just returned following a two-month layoff for a knee ligament injury.
Further forward, Daniel James may continue to feature on the left side of the attack, particularly with the injury absence of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. On the opposite flank, we are fancying Mason Greenwood to return after his appearance off the bench in midweek.
Bruno Fernandes, who has made four goalscoring contributions from his four United starts, should start in the number 10 role while Odion Ighalo is expected to make his full Premier League debut for the club upfront. The Nigerian scored his maiden United goal during the 5-0 drubbing of Club Brugge.
