Here is why Manchester United should sign £40m rated midfielder

David Brooks is one of the most exciting prospects in English football right now. The Welsh international’s performances for AFC Bournemouth have caught the eye of the English elite. Manchester United are interested in the midfielder’s signature.

Style of play

Brooks’ most immediately striking features are his flowing technical ability, fluent movements, and the strong relationship between both. A high-level technician, Brooks can execute various attack-oriented actions: he can receive, release and retain possession under pressure adequately, beat players in one-on-one situations, combine with quick one-twos, access the byline to cross, and play decisive, shot-creating passes.

Predominantly left-footed, Brooks often uses his right to receive, set, and shift the ball. He combines quick touches to dribble in tight spaces, or attempt killer passes and crosses.

Strengths

The midfielder is a serious threat near the 18-yard box and has some of the most exquisite skills to beat defenders. His dribbling is top-notch and so is his eye for goal.

Weakness

The midfielder is lacking in the areas of chance creation and key passes. Brooks is guilty of wasting many opportunities to pass the ball into key spaces which could turn into a chance for his team. Brooks picked an ankle injury that sidelined him for over 300 days. He’s been only injured twice in his whole career but this could concern his career in a longer run.

Where does he fit

The Welshman’s outstanding technical ability and brilliant movement make him a dangerous prospect on the right flank. He is great at running at defenses with speed, regularly cuts inside and shoots while he also has an excellent crossing range.

There is certainly a spot up for grabs on the right with wonderkid Mason Greenwood currently the. Brooks will share creative responsibilities with Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba.

Verdict

Manchester United’s move for Jadon Sancho has stalled and the club is actively looking for alternatives. The likes of Douglas Costa, Ousmane Dembele and Kingsley Coman have been linked to a move to Manchester, but David Brooks makes the most sense.

He is young and a better alternative to most of United’s bench strength. Squad depth is an issue for Manchester United and injuries have also taken their toll, and the arrival of Brooks could help with that regard.

Manchester United has already inquired about the availability of the midfielder and have been quoted a price tag of £40m in return.

As far as the fans are concerned, David Brooks already has his one foot in Manchester.
