Here is why Manchester United should sign £40m Bayern Munich defender

David Alaba does not need any introduction. With the last year of his contract remaining, Bayern Munich is hoping to sell the defender rather than see him leave for free. There are no talks of a fixed price but sources report that Bayern will entertain a deal around the region of £40m.

Barcelona is a big fan of the defender but the allure of playing in the Premier League may be too hard to resist for the Austrian star. Especially for Manchester United

David Alaba is one of the best left-back in the world on any given day and is a credit to his team both offensively and defensively. Due to injuries to Nicklas Sule and Lucas Hernandez earlier this season, Alaba started playing as a center-half with Alphonso Davies on his left.

A defender who is comfortable with the ball at his feet, Alaba is known for dazzling his opponents with his quick pace and skill moves.

He is a versatile player who looks at home in nearly all of the places in his team. He can recycle possession, make darting runs, pick out his teammates in dangerous positions and make dangerous crosses into the opposition box all game long.

Luke Shaw’s injury problems and Brandon Williams’s inexperience has kept the left-back position is Manchester United up for grabs and Alaba should be the perfect choice to fill it.

United are also looking for a center-back to help Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof as Phil Jones, Marco Rojo and Chris Smalling leave the club. The 28-year-old will fit like a glove.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer prefers a game plan in which his side keeps the ball and looks to create chances regularly and break quickly when they get the ball back, Alaba’s pace and attacking skills would be the perfect match for this plan.

Manchester United are looking to build a squad to challenge for top honours next season and they should not look any further than the Bayern left-back to strengthen their team. Alaba is a unique defender and United should do everything to secure his services. £40m for a player who can solve two problems for United is not much.
