A selection of Manchester United fans have hailed the performance of goalkeeper David de Gea during the club’s 1-0 win over Manchester City in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final.
The Red Devils were trailing in the double-legged tie after the 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford and they needed to score twice without conceding in normal time at the Etihad to enforce a penalty shootout.
However, that was not the case with Solskjaer’s side managing just one goal on Wednesday night and they could have quite easily conceded a few, barring a solid display from De Gea, who made four saves, as per whoscored.
De Gea’s form has been inconsistent over the past 18 months with the Red Devils but the club’s supporters were pleased that the 29-year-old gave his best for the club on the night as they ended up with a derby win as a consolation.

For the majority of the season De Gea has been sloppy and utterly gory to the sight. But there are some moment where things "turn" in the favor of a player. One can only hope that THIS Performance against city was his turn. Man saved us from a proper beating today.

United took the lead through Nemanja Matic, who scored with a superb low strike in the 35th minute. That was only one of the club’s two attempts on target in the derby and they could not push on for the second goal in the final quarter of the game after Matic was sent off for a second yellow card.
Manchester United are scheduled to host Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League in Saturday’s late kick-off. Bruno Fernandes could make his debut for the club, provided he is registered prior to 12pm on Friday.
