Harry Maguire & Donny van de Beek not part of travelling Man Utd squad to face Spurs

Manchester United duo Harry Maguire and Donny van de Beek have not travelled with their teammates to London ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Red Devils recently made the decision to sell Maguire to West Ham United for £30 million, but a transfer did not materialise after the 30-year-old refused to discuss personal terms.

Speaking ahead of the Spurs game, manager Erik ten Hag said that he is ‘very happy‘ to keep Maguire, but it is unclear whether the £80m star will be in the matchday squad to face the London side.

As per Samuel Luckhurst, a 20-man squad took the train from Stockport Station to Euston today. Maguire was one of those missing for the trip to the south alongside Van de Beek.

Tyrell Malacia, Tom Heaton, Amad Diallo and Kobbie Mainoo won’t be involved with injuries while Rasmus Hojlund continues to build his fitness after a back issue in pre-season.

Man Utd duo could miss Spurs game

Maguire was an unused substitute in the 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night. Victor Lindelof was picked ahead of him off the bench to replace Lisandro Martinez.

Ten Hag spoke about his importance in the squad in his pre-match presser today, but it appears he may not be involved tomorrow. It remains to be seen whether this could be transfer-related.

Meanwhile, Van de Beek’s absence does not surprise us. The £35m signing was left out of the curtain-raiser against Wolves. The club are actively exploring the option of selling him this summer.

Real Sociedad were interested in him earlier this month, but they have opted to sign Arsen Zakharyan instead. United will be hoping for more proposals for the Dutchman in the coming days.

United prefer to sell Van de Beek or loan him out with a mandatory buy clause.
