Harry Kane is still hopeful that Manchester United will resurrect their interest and launch a bid for him, according to the Daily Mail.
The 29-year-old has spent all his professional career at Spurs but wants a new challenge.
The England international is reportedly eager to join the Red Devils, who are desperate to sign a new striker.
But despite his contract expiring in 2024, chairman Daniel Levy is demanding a £100 million transfer fee.
United are not ready to meet his valuation and have turned their attention to more attainable targets such as Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund.
They could move for Kane if Tottenham reduce their asking price to around £80m.
United is the most likely destination for Kane
Daniel Levy is known to be one of the toughest negotiators in football. He will not let go of his most important player cheaply.
But the English businessman is not in a strong negotiating position with Kane’s contract expiring next year.
Accepting £80m from United would be a sensible decision as they risk losing Kane for nothing next year.
The 29-year-old is unwilling to move to a foreign club because he wants to break Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record.
Chelsea is another option for the experienced forward, but he is unlikely to tarnish his Tottenham legacy by joining them.
Tottenham will probably sell the England international this summer, and United are his most likely destination.
