Hannibal Mejbri to decide his future next week after Everton and Sevilla interest

Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri will choose to join either Everton or Sevilla on loan next week, according to journalist Alonso Rivero.

The Tunisian has made the decision to pursue a new challenge away from Old Trafford amid his lack of regular playing time under manager Erik ten Hag.

Sevilla were initially leading the pursuit of his services. They were nearing an agreement, but the interest from the Toffees has slowed down the process.

As per Rivero, United ‘continue to pressure’ the midfielder to go Everton rather than Sevilla, and believe the Toffees would be a better destination for him.

However, Mejbri is said to favour a move to Spain with Sevilla, and the La Liga outfit are optimistic that his ‘will, will prevail’ and they will eventually sign him.

Mejbri expected to make decision next week

The 20-year-old made a few starts for United at the beginning of the campaign, but he has barely featured over the past few months with the emergence of Mainoo.

The club recently took the decision to extend his contract until June 2025, but that has likely been done to preserve his transfer value and avoid losing him on a free transfer.

Sevilla have proposed a loan deal with a possible buy option, but we are not surprised that United are holding out for Everton’s bid. They may have offered a better financial deal.

Ultimately, the final decision will rest on the shoulders of Mejbri. United’s hands are pretty much tied at the moment as Mejbri will enter the final year of his contract this summer.

As things stand, the club graduate has shown no signs of penning an extension. Mejbri’s departure this month seems likely. Manager Erik ten Hag recently refused to rule out his exit.
