However, journalist Florian Pletterberg claims Gyokeres has not given United the ‘green light’ to sign him.
Amorim is reportedly keen on signing the striker, and there have been concrete talks between United and his representatives.
United’s chances of signing him rest on them winning the Europa League, which would secure their qualification for the Champions League.
Gyokeres has set his sights on Champions League football, and he is unlikely to join United if they do not qualify for the competition.

Gyokeres is already familiar with Amorim’s tactical system, making him the ideal fit for United.
United reportedly favour a move for Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, but they should focus on signing the Swedish forward.
Gyokeres is one of Europe’s elite strikers. He is leading the race for the European Golden Shoe, having scored 38 goals in 30 league games.
United must not miss out on the opportunity to sign him if there is a chance to do so this summer.
He would be an upgrade on Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund and could end the club’s long-term search for a prolific goalscorer.
