Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed Jack Grealish will miss the Premier League clash against Manchester United on Sunday.
The 28-year-old, who joined City for £100 million in 2021, has scored three goals in 23 games in all competitions this season.
Grealish was part of the starting XI in Tuesday’s 6-2 win over Luton Town but was substituted in the first half after a groin issue and will miss the derby.
Guardiola said (as per Manchester Evening News): “He will not be fit this weekend. When he comes back, I don’t know.”
Derby clash is challenging for United
Man United suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Fulham in the Premier League last weekend.
They returned to winning ways in their midweek FA Cup game at Nottingham Forest but were unconvincing.
Erik ten Hag’s side now face a challenging fixture against Man City.
The Citizens cruised past United at Old Trafford in October and will fancy their chances of completing the double this weekend.
Guardiola’s side haven’t lost since a 1-0 reverse at Aston Villa in December.
The Red Devils must be at their best to come away with anything from the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
