Manchester United are scheduled to entertain Partizan Belgrade in Thursday’s Europa League meeting at Old Trafford. The Red Devils have been on the road over the past two weeks and during this period, they have found their winning touch with three victories.
Still, their recent away trip to Bournemouth was disappointing as they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat and the fans will be expecting a strong response when Partizan visit the Theatre of Dreams. United are currently at the top of their Europa League group with seven points and a victory over their Serbian opponents would ensure their berth in the knockout stage of the competition.
Predicted Lineup:
Sergio Romero has been the regular choice when it comes to the Cup competitions. The Argentine should start in goal ahead of David de Gea and he will be eyeing his fourth-straight clean sheet in the Europa League this season.
In the defence, Aaron Wan-Bissaka should feature on the right side of the backline. In the central defence, Solskjaer may consider resting both Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof and that should offer Phil Jones with a rare starting role alongside Marcos Rojo.
On the left side of the backline, Ashley Young should get the pick over Brandon Williams. Williams has been the regular for the position ahead of Young this term but the latter could start the game, considering he is suspended for the weekend Premier League clash after accumulating five yellow cards.
In the midfield, Scott McTominay and Fred are definite choices to make the starting XI. Fred has recently impressed with his workrate and tackling but he needs to step up his performance further after being wasteful with the attacking aspect of his game at Bournemouth. Alongside the duo, James Garner could start after being excluded from the Under 23 squad for Monday’s game.
In the attack front, Anthony Martial should get another chance to lead the line, given he needs regular gametime to achieve full fitness. Daniel James is surely a definite starter on the left wing which has been the case for most of the season. Mason Greenwood, meanwhile, may slot into the opposite flank. The 18-year-old will be eyeing his first start since the goalless draw at AZ Alkmaar more than one month ago.
