Manchester United starlet Radek Vitek has hinted that he could be heading for the Old Trafford exit soon.
Vitek played for 45 minutes after coming on at the interval during the 1-0 loss to Wrexham in Helsinki yesterday.
He did not concede a goal and made a superb save with his outstretched leg after racing off his line to deny a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Speaking after the game, Vitek admitted that several clubs are already interested in signing him this summer.
He said (via journalist Simon Stone): “I feel great and ready to go again somewhere to hopefully be number one. We’ll see what can happen.
“I’m ready for both (loan or permanent transfer) to be fair. It depends on what the club wants and also depends on the options. There’s been a few interests on the table but yeah, we are hoping to get the best one and hopefully it will happen soon.”
His comments strongly suggest that United are actively working on finding him a new club before the transfer window closes.
Whether that move comes as a season-long loan or a permanent transfer remains the biggest question.
Vitek enhanced his reputation enormously during a superb loan spell with Bristol City last season and won the Player of the Year award.
His standout saves kept Bristol City firmly in the Championship play-off race before their late-season collapse.
He kept 12 clean sheets in 41 appearances and ranked fourth in the league for goals prevented.
United would undoubtedly benefit from keeping a goalkeeper of his quality, but Vitek has made it clear that regular first-team football is now his priority.
After a standout debut season for Senne Lammens, he deserves to be the first-choice goalkeeper at Old Trafford.
The Czech stop-stopper has no intention of remaining at Old Trafford simply as an understudy.
United have already strengthened their goalkeeping department by signing experienced Karl Darlow on a free transfer to provide reliable cover.
With Vitek’s reputation continuing to rise, INEOS may decide this is the perfect moment to cash in and sanction a permanent transfer if the right offer arrives.
