Manchester United have a unique opportunity to sign 25-year-old centre-back Niklas Sule.
As per Bild’s Christian Falk, United could attain Sule’s services if they act quickly. Speaking on Stretford Paddock Podcast, Falk also confirms that Sule has a childhood dream of playing for Manchester United.
His contract expires in 2022. Bayern would want to confirm his future at the club in the summer and not let him go for free in 2022. Falk also adds that Sule has fitness and dietary issues that need to be taken care of.
Our take
Sule is a tall, quick, and technically sound defender. He’s valued at €48m on Transfermarkt. United are in a dire need of a centre-back. Based on his abilities and United’s problems, Sule fits in like a glove at Old Trafford.
There’s no reported interest from any other club which gives more leverage to United while negotiating. The ball is in United’s court. Falk confirms that United need to act quick to complete the deal.
United are linked to other centre-backs too. The Red Devils are also in the race to sign Dayot Upamecano who has a €45m release clause that could be activated next summer but would face more competition there. United also have an opportunity to sign Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane, an unlikely pursuit even if United were top of the table, which they sadly aren’t.
Sule may be the defender United need, and can actually get too.
