German journalist says £110m star finds Man United move appealing: report

Reputed German journalist Raphael Honigstein has said that Jadon Sancho is tempted by the prospect of joining Manchester United, given he could be the star player in the team.

The Borussia Dortmund winger has been regularly linked with a move to the Premier League this year with the likes of United, Liverpool and Chelsea interested in his services.

Out of the trio, the Red Devils are understood to be the favourites to sign him and Honigstein feels that the forward could join the club without the promise of winning titles straightaway.

“Manchester United can’t promise titles to [Jadon] Sancho straight away. But they can promise him to be the leading star in a new team that is emerging. From what I’ve been told that is quite appealing to him,” he told on the Steilcast Podcast.

Sancho has developed leaps and bounds during his two-and-a-half years in the German top-flight and he is now regarded as one of the most sought-after attackers in European football despite his young age.

As such, Dortmund are likely to demand in excess of £100m for Sancho and United may not have much room for negotiations with several other elite European clubs also monitoring the situation.

The 20-year-old is currently experiencing his best campaign at the professional level and he has bagged 17 goals and 19 assists across all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit.

He has had a similar goalscoring record (eight apiece) from both wide attacking positions this term but has predominantly featured from the right side of the attack for BVB.

A move to Old Trafford would mean that he would need the guarantee of a starting role in the same position. That could directly hamper the playing time of Daniel James and Mason Greenwood.
