Gary Neville thinks Erik ten Hag is going to get until at least Christmas before Manchester United consider sacking him

Manchester United suffered their second Premier League defeat of the season against Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday, with the visitors strolling to a comfortable 3-0 victory.

The Merseyside club were 2-0 up heading into half-time before bagging another goal against a woeful Red Devils side in the second-half.

Man United lost 2-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend and could not bounce back against Liverpool.

Manager Erik ten Hag will likely be under growing pressure to deliver results, but Gary Neville thinks Man United will not consider sacking him yet.

“I think Ten Hag is going to get until at least Christmas,” the former Red Devils star said on Sky Sports.

“The board aren’t going to do anything stupid. He’s going to get a few months, there’s no doubt about that.”

“Why would it be stupid?” Jamie Carragher replied.

“We can see after three games what Arne Slot is about. After two years of Ten Hag, we still can’t see it.”

The Man United boss came close to being sacked a couple of months ago, but winning the FA Cup against Manchester City at the end of last season played a huge role in saving his job.

They were linked with several managers but eventually stuck with Ten Hag, supporting him in the summer transfer window by spending £206 million on Manuel Ugarte, Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

Man United return to Premier League action after the international break with a trip to face Southampton on September 14 and will hope to immediately bounce back.
