Gary Neville reacts on Twitter after Man Utd’s shock defeat at Brighton

Manchester United legend-turned-pundit Gary Neville summed up the Red Devils’ embarrassing 4-0 Premier League defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion with a single character tweet.

The club had the opportunity to end the season on a high with a winning run, but were completely outplayed by the Seagulls at the Amex Stadium yesterday.

Graham Potter’s side dominated the proceedings from the off, and should have scored more than once in the opening half with the chances created in the final third.

The Red Devils had the opportunity to make a comeback after the break, but it was not the case with the hosts netting three more goals by the hour mark itself.

In the end, it was a damage limitation exercise. Brighton could have quite easily netted two or three more goals with better finishing. It was utter dominance.

There was nothing positive to take forward for United from the dismal showing at Brighton. Neville perfectly summed the display with a ‘period’ as his tweet.

With the humiliating loss, United are also assured of their worst-ever points tally in a Premier League campaign. They can at most finish with 61 points if they win their final game.

That is also not guaranteed at the moment after the dismal showing yesterday. Crystal Palace are a difficult club to face on the road, particularly in the current run of form.

United have the best part of two weeks to prepare for the encounter in south London. A positive result could be essential to qualifying for the Europa League next term.
