Gary Lineker has laughed at a report claiming Manchester United will do everything possible to sign Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane if he becomes available this summer.
The England international left Tottenham Hotspur for the Bundesliga club last summer despite years of being linked with the Red Devils.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was only willing to sell Kane to a club outside of the Premier League, which saw Man United miss out on their long-term target.
The Red Devils are rumoured to be still interested in signing Kane, and Lineker took to social media platform X to react.
It is hard to see Kane becoming available this summer after hitting the ground running in the German top-flight and it is even harder to see him joining Man United if he becomes available.
The 30-year-old has bagged 30 goals in 25 Bundesliga appearances, plus another six goals in eight Champions League games, and it is hard to see Bayern agreeing to let him leave,
If it comes to that, several clubs will be keen to land Kane, and Man United will likely throw their hat into the ring.
However, they could end up missing out on the Champions League next term, which would deal a massive blow to their chances of landing the veteran striker.
Whether they can afford the finances involved is another issue as Bayern will want a bumper fee for one of their most-prized assets despite his age, while Kane will want a hefty salary.
Man United are also likely to want to sign a young striker as opposed to bringing in someone approaching the twilight of his career.
They have been linked with Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen, while Brentford star Ivan Toney is also believed to be on their radar.
The chances of Kane playing for Man United are slim and it is clear to see why Lineker could not help but laugh at the report.
