Manchester United have opened talks with West Ham United over a move for Crysencio Summerville as they look to strengthen their left wing this summer.
Summerville is expected to leave West Ham during the current transfer window following the Hammers’ relegation to the Championship.
Chelsea and Arsenal are also monitoring the Dutch forward, who is valued at £50 million.
Fulham have now joined the race for the Netherlands international, according to The Guardian. The Cottagers are searching for Harry Wilson’s replacement.
The Guardian add that an ambitious team from outside the elite clubs is more likely to sign Summerville.
United should avoid a move for Summerville
Summerville scored five goals and provided four assists in 31 Premier League games last season- a decent return for a player who played for a relegated side.
He also impressed for the Netherlands at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scoring two goals and providing two assists in four appearances.
However, there are concerns over his consistency and final decision-making. He registered just two league goal involvements in the first half of last season.
The 24-year-old has also struggled with his fitness since joining West Ham, missing 27 games through various injuries.
We believe United should reintegrate Marcus Rashford into the squad rather than sign Summerville.
Rashford is coming off the back of an impressive season on loan at Barcelona, where he registered 14 goals and 14 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions.
The England international is a better forward than Summerville and is familiar with the club. He offers a greater goalscoring threat and is more creative than the West Ham winger.
Manager Michael Carrick is ready to welcome Rashford back to the squad, while centre-back Harry Maguire has also given his seal of approval for his potential return.
Rather than spending £50m on Summerville, United would be better off retaining Rashford.
