Four nominees announced for Man United’s April Player of the Month award

Four players are in the running for Manchester United’s Player of the Month for April.

Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Leny Yoro and Harry Maguire have been identified as the club’s standout performers this month.

Fernandes has continued his brilliant form for the club, registering two goal contributions in six games.

The fans voted him Man of the Match in the league games against Manchester City and Bournemouth and in the Europa League quarter-final first-leg clash with Lyon.

The Portugal international is the current award holder and has won it three times this term.

Casemiro has continued his resurgence for the Mancunian giants. His most significant contribution was in the 5-4 win over Lyon, where he won a penalty and contributed two assists.

The Brazilian was also brilliant in the goalless draw against Manchester City.

According to Opta, he made 11 tackles in the game, the joint-most of any United player in a league game since the 2006/2007 season.

He was nominated for last month’s edition but lost out to Fernandes.

Maguire has also been in superb form for the club this month. He has started four games and contributed one goal and an assist.

He scored the winning goal in United’s triumph over Lyon, powering Casemiro’s cross into the net with a brilliant header.

The English centre-back was unlucky not to earn United a point in the 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest. He was also solid in the Manchester derby.

Yoro has been in stellar form this month. He scored his first goal for the club in the 2-2 draw with Lyon and has been solid defensively.

Although the Frenchman has not had as many eye-catching moments as the other nominees, he has played a crucial role for Ruben Amorim’s side in the past few weeks.
