Former Premier League midfielder Robbie Savage urged Manchester United to sign Harry Kane and Raul Jimenez.
Savage claims that even with one of these signings, the Red Devils will be challenging for trophies again.
Robbie Savage wrote in his column for the Daily Mirror, saying:
It’s imperative that they (Man United) spend the next transfer pot wisely”.
“But to take that next step – to the title, to cups, in Europe – they need someone to take their chances. Someone like Harry Kane or Raul Jimenez.
He added:” Between them, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood (62 goals) scored more than Liverpool’s front three (Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, 57 goals) in all competitions last season”.
“But to ask 18-year-old Greenwood, who was a revelation in his first season, to play the No.9 role would be too much pressure on a young kid.”
Robbie Savage is not wrong about his views on Mason Greenwood, but it is debatable whether Ed Woodward will allow Solskjaer the funds required to land strikers of the caliber of Kane and Jimenez.
Manchester United are looking to strengthen their squad this summer and are trying to sign winger Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. The deal for the Englishman has stalled and it is unclear what United’s back-up plan is.
Harry Kane is linked to Manchester United since he emerged as a top striker for Tottenham in the Premier League. The English captain is a prolific goalscorer but is gonna cost the club a figure north of the €120 million United are refusing to spend on Sancho. According to the Daily Star, Kane’s price tag is set at £200m.
Raul Jimenez caught the eye of the footballing world with his recent performances for Wolverhampton in the Premier League. United were linked with the Portuguese in the summer, but both parties denied the rumours.
Manchester United are not actively searching for a striker in this year’s market. Even if they did, these two players are gonna cost a very hefty sum.
