Transfer mogul Fabrizio Romano confirms that Manchester United are signing Donny Van de Beek very soon. The Dutchman will join United for a fee of around €40m and will sign a contract until 2025. Van de Beek is expected to reach United’ medical facilities and will be officially announced soon.
This raises a lot of questions and sends us into deep thinking. Van de Beek is 23 and will be looking for a starter role in the squad. The midfield will be highly imbalanced on the defensive front if Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes and Van de Beek play together in a three-man midfield setup.
Former Liverpool player Danny Murphy agrees to the point. Speaking on Monday’s White and Sawyer, the Talksport pundit said:
“I’m just thinking about where Van de Beek is going to play…
“Playing with Fernandes and Pogba? Do you really think that?
“Do you know what I think? I think that Pogba could be off. That signing to me says Pogba is off.”
However, Mino Raiola said that Paul Pogba is going to stay at United. Things were different pre-lockdown when Pogba almost was on the verge of leaving the club.
We don’t agree with Murphy though. United are going to play two games per week- competing in four competitions. With United’s injury record, its fair to say that Van de Beek will get a lot of action.
Van de Beek is a fantastic addition and we hope United will continue to sign similar players.
