Manchester United are scheduled to host Club Brugge in the second leg of the Europa League Round of 32 tie on Thursday night.
The Red Devils produced a disappointing 1-1 draw against Brugge in the away leg last week but they are still in the ascendancy in the double-legged tie with the away goal.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted for a couple of attacking changes during the recent trip to Bruges but the Norwegian may consider playing a much stronger XI on Thursday.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Lineup:
Sergio Romero has been the regular choice for the Europa League games when fit and the Argentine is likely to take his position between the sticks. He has managed six clean sheets from his previous seven appearances for the club.
The defence may witness the solitary change from the weekend’s win over Watford. Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be replaced with Diogo Dalot at right-back. Hence, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire should retain their central defensive positions with Luke Shaw operating on the left side of the backline.
Solskjaer has the temptation to play Andreas Pereira ahead of either Fred or Nemanja Matic but given the importance of the second leg, he should go with the regular pairing from recent months. Matic and Fred are likely to start together. Scott McTominay, who has recently recovered from a knee ligament injury, could make an appearance off the bench, suppose United find themselves in a commanding position in the second half.
In the attack, the manager may go with the same combination from the Hornets clash. Both Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata did not make much of an impression during the away leg in Bruges and Solskjaer should stick with the attacking players from the recent league meeting.
That would mean Daniel James and Mason Greenwood operating in the wide attacking positions. Bruno Fernandes, who bagged his debut United goal over the weekend, should start in the number 10 role with Anthony Martial leading the line. The Frenchman has scored for three games on the bounce following the winter break.
