Manchester United are scheduled to face Chelsea on the road in Monday’s Premier League clash. The Red Devils have failed to win their previous three league games, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be aiming to guide his side to a victory at Stamford Bridge in order to reduce the five-point gap to the Champions League places.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Lineup:
David de Gea will definitely start between the sticks on Monday night. The Spanish goalkeeper has had another mixed season by his standards but he has recently been in good form with back-to-back clean sheets in all competitions.
Solskjaer is unlikely to make any change in the backline. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw should slot into the full-back spots. Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire have been the constant picks for the central defensive positions and the duo are expected to keep their places.
In the midfield, there should be a definite change. Nemanja Matic should return to the starting XI after serving a one-match ban for his sending off in the League Cup semi-final second leg at Manchester City. The Serbian is likely to partner Fred in the centre of the park with Andreas Pereira dropping to the bench.
Further forward, Daniel James should continue to feature on the left side of the attack, particularly with Marcus Rashford injured. On the opposite flank, Mason Greenwood may get the nod over Juan Mata, who has been ineffective against teams, who tend to play a high pressing game.
Bruno Fernandes is a sure starter in the number 10 role and the same should be the case with Anthony Martial, who should play as the centre-forward. Loan signing Odion Ighalo has managed to build up his fitness over the past few weeks but the Nigerian’s inclusion remains doubtful, having not trained alongside his teammates.
