Fenerbahce board member Selahattin Baki is planning to hold a meeting with Manchester United forward Anthony Martial over a January transfer, according to Dirilis Postasi.
Martial has had a disappointing season with the Red Devils and he has contributed just one goal and one assists from 13 appearances in the Premier League.
His current contract expires at the end of the campaign and United have decided against triggering an extension clause to keep him for another 12 months.
As a result, he is anticipated to leave in either January or next summer and Dirilis Postasi report that Fenerbahce are exploring a winter transfer for him.
Baki is scheduled to have a meeting with Martial to discuss personal terms and find out whether Fenerbahce can afford to sign him at the turn of the year.
Martial needs to accept huge pay-cut to join Fenerbahce
Fred left United for Fenerbahce last summer. He is their highest-paid player at €102,000 per week.
In comparison, Martial earns around €291,000 weekly at Old Trafford. His prospect of joining the Turkish giants in January could depend on him accepting a huge pay-cut.
If he is reluctant to do so, he may have to listen to offers from Saudi Arabia. The cash-rich Pro League have been splashing plenty of cash and could easily meet his demands.
It is left to be seen which career path Martial chooses. He is unlikely to receive his current salary at any other European club, considering his lack of progress and injury record.
In United’s point of view, they will be hoping to secure a transfer fee in January. With add-ons and incentives, the club have spent £50m on Martial since his arrival from Monaco in 2015.
