A section of the Manchester United supporters are pleased with the club’s decision to hand Marcus Rashford a new long-term contract. The England international had just one year remaining on his previous deal, but they have now rewarded him with an improved contract until 2023 with the option of another year.
Rashford has been a good performer for the Red Devils since making his debut more than three years ago and he has been the only player in the current squad who has scored in double figures in each of the past three seasons.
The 21-year-old has drawn criticism at certain stages for his poor finishing when through on goal, but overall, he has been a quality performer for the Red Devils.
Here are some of the fan reactions from Twitter:
Fantastic news.. A young player with masses of potential who gives everything for the club. These are the kind of players we need to be tieing down!

I don’t understand the hate for rashford. The only thing bad about his game really is his freekicks.

Rashford was rewarded with the chance to lead the line towards the end of the previous season with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opting to drop regular choice Romelu Lukaku to the bench in certain games.
Still, he was disappointing with his end product with eight straight goalless games, but the club have kept faith by rewarding him with an improved deal for the progress made in the past few seasons as well as the potential of having a home-grown forward leading the line for years to come.
For the 2019/2020 campaign, Rashford may return to the familiar wide attacking position with the Red Devils seemingly on the hunt for a new striker who can find the net at regular intervals.
Of late, Seville outlet La Colina de Nervion has claimed that United have agreed to provisional personal terms with Sevilla’s Wissam Ben Yedder, although they have yet to make a formal approach for the Frenchman.
