Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has decided to keep Facundo Pellistri at the club despite being wanted on loan by several clubs, according to The Athletic.
Sheffield United and FC Twente were linked with the attacking midfielder, but Ten Hag has told him he wants him to continue his development at Old Trafford rather than on loan elsewhere.
Pellistri joined Man United from Penarol in October 2020 but spent the rest of the campaign on loan with Deportivo Alaves.
He returned to the La Liga club the following season and played 35 games across all competitions over 18 months.
Pellistri spent 2022-23 at Man United but was limited to ten games, with an assist to his name.
The Uruguay international has come off the bench twice in the Premier League this term, playing just 18 minutes against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur.
Pellistri will get more playing chances this term with the team playing in four competitions, and he will be hungry to prove himself after Ten Hag decided to show faith in him once again.
He has two years left on his contract with the option of an extra 12 months, and preliminary talks have been held over handing him improved and extended terms.
While Man United are holding on to the talented South American for now, another decision could be made in January if he has not played as much as he or the manager wants by then.
Pellestri will have to impress and make the most of his chances to force his way into the first-team plans.
