Fabrizio Romano delivers decisive transfer verdict on Man United loanee Rasmus Hojlund

Manchester United sent Rasmus Hojlund on loan to Napoli this summer.

The Serie A giants are obliged to buy him for a fee around £38 million if they qualify for the UEFA Champions League next term.

The 22-year-old has hit the ground running in Naples, scoring four goals in just six appearances.

Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Hojlund is almost certain to join Napoli on a permanent transfer next summer, irrespective of the obligation clause.

He said on his YouTube channel: “Apart from the obligation to buy, Napoli want to keep Rasmus Hojlund permanently.

“Napoli trust him and see him as part of their long-term project.

“The permanent transfer is almost guaranteed.”

Rasmus Hojlund could thrive in Serie A

The Denmark international never quite found his feet at Old Trafford, netting only 26 goals in more than 90 appearances.

Despite his raw potential, he struggled to make a consistent impact in Manchester.

He was repeatedly bullied by Premier League defenders and failed to improve his hold-up play.

Hojlund’s real strength lies in attacking with pace and power.

The Red Devils spent long stretches defending, exposing weaknesses in his playing style.

After two poor spells, United opted to cut their losses and send him on loan with an obligation to buy.

They replaced him with Benjamin Sesko, who has shown glimpses of his talent over the last two months.

His goals against Brentford and Sunderland came from close range, displaying a typical striker’s instincts.

He has impressed with his sharp first touch and the physical strength to hold off defenders while releasing quicker teammates into space.

It seems all parties have benefited from Hojlund’s switch, which is great news for United.
