Fabrizio Romano claims that Manchester United are considering a move to sign Juventus star Weston McKennie

Manchester United are reportedly now keen to sign Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie this summer.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano who told his official YouTube account that United are discussing a move to sign the 23-year-old behind the scenes.

Erik ten Hag is clearly keen to bolster his central midfield ranks at Old Trafford. His attempt to sign Barcelona ace Frenkie de Jong is still proving to be difficult, to say the least.

Meanwhile, a move to sign Adrien Rabiot from Juventus has collapsed according to Romano.

And it seems as though the United boss is now turning his attention elsewhere.

Manchester United eye move to sign Weston McKennie

Romano has suggested that the Juventus star could be on United’s radar this summer:

“Another option that Manchester United are considering internally is Weston McKennie of Juventus – a player they have been following. Not a priority right now, but one that they know will be on the market in the next few days.”

He will cost around €40 million (£33m this summer (Gazzetta dello Sport – page 14). We think that would be decent value for the United States international.

In 21 Serie A appearances for Juventus last season, McKennie bagged three goals. During those outings, he averaged one tackle and 1.1 interceptions per game. He made 24.7 passes per match and recorded a completion rate of 77.3%.

McKennie was described as a ‘brilliantly bright’ midfielder by Bundesliga’s official website in 2020. The American is an incredibly industrious, hard-working and energetic central midfielder.

He is a very good footballer and his tenacious playing style seems to be perfectly suited to the aggressive nature of Premier League football.

For £33m, we believe that McKennie would be a very solid addition for United this summer.
