Erik ten Hag reveals two-word reaction to Man Utd dressing room after beating Wigan

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed his two-word reaction to the players in the dressing room following the FA Cup third round win over Wigan Athletic on Monday night.

The Red Devils travelled to the DW Stadium to face the Latics yesterday. They had a nervous start with Andre Onana making an early save. Aside from this, the club dominated the proceedings.

Goals from Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes sealed a 2-0 win over the League One outfit, but the margin of victory could have been superior with the amount of chances created.

Speaking after the result, Ten Hag said that the FA Cup is all about winning. He told the dressing room ‘Job done’ after avoiding the prospect of a replay at Old Trafford.

He told Manutd.com: “The FA Cup is all about winning. It’s a knockout. If you have to replay [the tie], it’s two games, but you want to finish the job and that’s exactly the words I used in the dressing room: ‘Job done’.”

United returned to winning ways after a disappointing end to 2023. They will be aiming to continue the momentum when Tottenham Hotspur visit Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Red Devils are currently nine points behind Manchester City and Arsenal, who are third and fourth respectively in the top-flight. Hence, they have no room for setbacks.

The club have the opportunity to beat Spurs and pile the pressure on a struggling Gunners outfit, who have picked up only four points from the previous five league games.

After facing Spurs, United will be back in FA Cup action against either Newport County or Eastleigh in the fourth round. Like yesterday, the Cup tie will be played away from home.
