Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has provided a positive injury update on Christian Eriksen.
Eriksen has been on the sidelines for the past three months due to an ankle injury he suffered against Reading in the FA Cup.
He has been an influential player under Ten Hag, occupying the number eight role in the midfield.
The manager believes that Dane is heading towards training with the team.
He said (ManUtd.com): “Christian Eriksen is back on the pitch, not yet in the team training but I expect him in the coming week, [or] weeks, back in team training so will be available for games again.”
Eriksen’s return will be a massive boost for Man United. They are in the business end of the season and still competing in three competitions.
They have a busy run of fixtures ahead, with nine games in the next 30 days.
United are strong contenders to win the FA Cup and the Europa League. A top-four finish in the Premier League is also in their sights.
Although Eriksen has been out injured for a while now, he has provided the most assists for United in the league (seven). He is followed by Bruno Fernandes who has registered six.
When United realised that Eriksen could be out for a while, they were forced to dive deep into the transfer market to sign a replacement.
As a result, Marcel Sabitzer moved to Old Trafford on a loan deal for six months.
However, when Eriksen is back to full fitness, he will be the first choice to play alongside Casemiro in the centre of the park.
Eriksen brings creativity to the side, whereas the Brazilian provides security to the defence. They are the perfect midfield combination for United to thrive.
