Erik ten Hag must pick Amad Diallo over Antony and Omari Forson against Everton

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag should name Amad Diallo in the starting XI against Everton in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Red Devils will be hoping to return to winning ways after losing two consecutive league games against Fulham and Manchester City.

The right-wing spot has been Man United’s Achilles heel over the last few years.

Ten Hag brought Antony from Ajax in a deal worth £86 million but he has failed to live up to expectations.

The United manager introduced him as the first attacking change in the Manchester Derby last weekend. His 20-minute cameo began with an untimely run, which resulted in an offside.

He followed that by losing possession of the ball twice in quick succession. Man City fans mocked his disappointing display.

Ten Hag started Omari Forson in the 2-1 loss to Fulham and allowed him to come off the bench last weekend.

The 19-year-old has looked off the pace and short of confidence in both games. In fairness to him, it is not easy for youngsters to do well in a struggling team.

Diallo has continued to wait for his chance since returning from a long-term injury in December 2023. He has made three appearances and all have come as a substitute.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a sensational loan spell with Sunderland last season. He scored 14 goals for the Black Cats and played a crucial role in taking the club to the Championship play-offs.

There is no doubt that Diallo has the talent, but he needs Ten Hag’s support to unearth his potential.

If the United manager continues to overlook Diallo’s qualities and fails to tap into his potential, the youngster may ponder moving elsewhere this summer.
