Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is convinced his team’s fortunes will change soon.
The Red Devils recently suffered a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of arch-rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford.
The defeat means United have now slipped down to eighth in the Premier League standings, putting them in danger of missing out on a top-four finish.
Ten Hag, who was widely praised for ending the club’s trophy drought with League Cup success last season, is now facing scrutiny from supporters for the disappointing start to the new campaign.
However, the Dutch boss has assured fans that it is only a matter of time before his side turns their season around.
“At Manchester United, every game involves high stakes,” He said (as per The National).
“Every single day, there is pressure on everybody involved with this club, but those demands and standards are a challenge which we must always meet head-on.
“While this has not been the start to the season that we had all hoped for, I am certain that we have the talent and attitude as a collective to move in the right direction.
“I believe that it is only a matter of time before we are showing our true selves. It will come, I am certain.”
Manchester United are set to meet Newcastle United this week in the fourth round of the League Cup.
The Magpies have been unconvincing in recent weeks but are expected to provide tough competition for United.
Revenge will likely be on the minds of the visitors following their 2-0 defeat at Wembley Stadium against the Red Devils in the final of this competition in February.
Ten Hag will likely make changes to the team that lost against City at the weekend.
Marcus Rashford, who has struggled to replicate his excellent form last season, will likely be rested for the midweek fixture.
Bruno Fernandes came under huge criticism for his actions during the derby game. He could also drop out of the team on Wednesday.
However, Raphael Varane could return to the side after his surprise omission against City.
