Erik ten Hag hints at Sergio Reguilon injury boost but Jonny Evans injured

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Sergio Reguilon is in contention for Tuesday’s Champions League group stage clash against Copenhagen at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils picked up a second successive league win at the weekend. They secured a 2-1 victory at Sheffield United after Diogo Dalot’s sublime winning strike in the 77th minute.

United will be aiming to carry the momentum into tomorrow’s game. The club are in a must-win situation in the Champions League, having lost their opening two group matches.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Ten Hag revealed that Reguilon was ruled out of Saturday’s game with an illness. The 26-year-old will be training today and could be involved if he is game fit.

He told Manutd.com: “Sergio, he got ill for Saturday so he was fit. He trained all week last week and yesterday [Sunday] he was back in part training.”

“Today he will train and then we have to assess if he is ready and game fit or if he can be involved in the squad. We have to wait for that.”

Meanwhile, United’s official website confirm that Jonny Evans picked up an injury at Bramall Lane at the weekend, but there has been no update on the Northern Irishman.

United have found momentum either side of the international break. They have not been playing at their best, but have come on top with 2-1 wins over Brentford and Sheffield.

They now face Copenhagen in Europe. After a poor start to their Champions League campaign, they must beat the Danish outfit at home before the away trip in a fortnight.
