Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is optimistic that Antony will be available for the FA Cup final clash with Manchester City.
The winger was stretchered off in tears with an ankle injury during United’s recent 4-1 win over Chelsea in the Premier League.
It looked like the Brazilian would be out for a lengthy period, but Ten Hag is hopeful he could be available for the FA Cup final.
He told MUTV: “We’ve all seen how he came off and it didn’t look great but the first assessment is not too bad, there is a good opportunity he is available for the cup final next week.”
Antony’s return is a massive boost for Man United
The Red Devils are aiming to do a Wembley Stadium double after winning the Carabao Cup earlier this year.
Manchester City are having a sensational season, courtesy of their goal machine Erling Braut Haaland.
They have conquered the Premier League and are just one step away from winning the coveted Champions League.
They are hot favourites to beat Inter Milan in the final, putting the onus on Man United to stop their treble charge.
Antony has been wasteful this season but provides a dynamic that no other United player can on the right flank.
He is not afraid of taking on defenders and beating them by using his superb burst of pace.
His acceleration could be key for United on the counter-attack against Man City.
Jadon Sancho is expected to replace Antony if he is not fit enough to start the game. The England international played well against Fulham today.
He brought the score to parity and could have finished the game with an assist if Wout Weghorst had been more clinical with his effort.
