Erik ten Hag gives his assessment of Manchester United’s performance against Real Betis in San Diego

Manchester United claimed a 3-2 victory over Real Betis in their latest pre-season friendly at the Snapdragon Stadium, thanks to an excellent performance from Amad Diallo

The Red Devils lost 2-1 against Arsenal in California but bounced back in San Diego to seal a much-needed success against the La Liga outfit.

Manager Erik ten Hag conceded his team ‘had some problems’ early on but he was pleased with the overall performance.

Ten Hag told MUTV: “I think it was okay – the lads did well. At the start we had some problems in getting control and we went 1-0 down, which shouldn’t happen. I actually think this was the first time they entered our box.

“But then we took over and we bounced back. I think we made three really good goals – first the penalty and it was a good action from Amad.

“The second I would [also] say is a very good goal. The third one from the corner is also a nice goal. The second where Harry Amass put the cross [in] and Amad scored the goal with the finish was lovely.”

Diallo was the standout performer for United as he scored a goal and also created three chances.

Following Iker Losada’s opener, Marcus Rashford equalised from the penalty spot in the 18th minute after a foul on Diallo.

He then hit the target with a sublime strike before Rashford set up Casemiro for the third.

Diego Llorente pulled one back after the hour mark, but United held on to win.

The victory was marred by Rashford’s new injury scare. He left the field after going down with a problem in the second half.

Man United are already dealing with injuries to Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund.

Yoro will reportedly remain sidelined for three months, which means he could miss nine Premier League matches.

Hojlund also faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines as he will not be available for the next six weeks.
