Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag expects Rasmus Hojlund to make a ‘huge impact’ but admits he needs time to settle into the team.
Ten Hag believes Hojlund can cope with the pressure of being compared to Erling Braut Haaland, who is scoring goals for fun at Manchester City.
He told (via ManUtd.com): “I think he can. So I think it’s a different character in our squad and that makes it really exciting.
“I think for the balance in the squad, it’s very good and already we noticed that in this week when he came in, a different spirit is coming up and he gives that energy and so also all the players you see them get energy from it.
“It’s very good and just let him settle in, give him time. No player can act from the start.
“Of course, we expect a huge impact. But also he needs time to settle into the team, to settle into the way of play and the rest will come. I’m very confident of that.”
“He’s brave, and that’s enough. He is brave and [he has] belief. The rest will come.”
Hojlund could make his United debut tomorrow
The Denmark international moved to Old Trafford from Atalanta in a deal worth £72 million.
He is nursing a back injury, which forced the United supporters to wait for his debut.
Ten Hag has confirmed that Hojlund trained with the team this week and is available to face Arsenal tomorrow.
Marcus Rashford led the line in the first two games of the campaign. The England international failed to make a mark and was an isolated figure up top.
Anthony Martial started in the number nine spot against Nottingham Forest last week. The Frenchman did not provide any attacking threat and was hauled off at the hour mark.
Hojlund is a highly talented striker who possesses a quick burst of speed and is physically strong.
Having him up front will provide United with a focal point, which they have been missing this campaign.
