Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has provided an injury update on five players ahead of the Premier League clash against West Ham United on Saturday.
The Red Devils are currently on a three-match winless run in all competitions, but they should go into tomorrow’s game with confidence after a splendid defensive display at Anfield.
The club were anticipated to suffer a heavy defeat in the North-West derby, but the players showed a strong defensive resolve to pick up a deserved point in the end.
United will be aiming to return to winning ways against the Hammers at the London Stadium. Ahead of the game, Ten Hag has confirmed disappointing news on five players.
Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez have been out for weeks with hamstring and foot injuries respectively and Ten Hag does not expect to return until mid-January at least.
Mason Mount is also anticipated to return from a calf injury next month. The same is the case with Harry Maguire (groin) and Victor Lindelof, who has undergone a surgery.
He told Manutd.com: “They [Martinez and Casemiro] are not available before Christmas. Mid-January, we expect them back. Mason Mount is similar, into January.”
“Harry Maguire, I expect him early on [in the new year]. Victor Lindelof is not available. He has done surgery so he will be out for a couple of weeks.”
United need to end winless streak against West Ham
The Red Devils have failed to find the back of the net in the last three games, but they have created some good chances. The club should have scored at Anfield last weekend.
They face David Moyes’ side on the road tomorrow and in our view, United should fancy their prospects of a victory as the London outfit have had their defensive flaws this term.
The Hammers have conceded 30 goals in their 17 league games. The return of captain Bruno Fernandes after a one-game suspension should be a huge boost for United tomorrow.
The Red Devils have a brilliant league record versus the Hammers with 15 points from the last six games. The only setback came last season where they suffered a 1-0 loss on the road.
