Erik ten Hag confirms Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Christian Eriksen are back in full Man Utd training

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Christian Eriksen are back in full training ahead of the Premier League clash against Brentford on Wednesday.

Wan-Bissaka was unavailable for the 2-0 defeat at Newcastle United on Sunday due to an illness but he has recovered in time to be involved in the team training session this afternoon.

Speaking in his press conference, Ten Hag confirmed that the right-back will be working with the squad and he is happy with the ‘really close’ competition between him and Diogo Dalot.

He said: “He’s returning today in training. I think it is really close, competition between them. Maybe Aaron gives you a little bit more defending, Diogo gives you a little bit more offense.”

“I have to say, they have both made progress in both areas. It is really close. You look at the load, the opponent, to manage that.”

The Red Devils boss also revealed that Eriksen will be involved in full training for the first time since his ankle injury but ruled out his availability for tomorrow’s late kick-off against the Bees.

He added: “Not for tomorrow but he’s returning on the pitch. He’s returning into team training today, so we have to see now how quickly he can make the progress.”

United must return to winning ways against Brentford

The Red Devils have lost their way in the Premier League with just one point from the last three outings.

Despite this, they are only goal difference behind Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, who are third and fourth in the league. United currently have two games in hand over Spurs.

Hence, the club have their top-four destiny in their own hands but need to capitalise on the extra fixtures. They host Brentford on Wednesday night before another home game against Everton on Saturday.

United are favourites on paper to win both matches and Ten Hag will expect nothing less. Wan-Bissaka could make his comeback to the starting XI tomorrow after Diogo Dalot’s tough outing last weekend.

Eriksen won’t be fit for the Bees clash but could be involved off the bench against Sean Dyche’s side.
