Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has decided to stay the club. According to Le10sport, Kante is not going to seek a transfer away from Chelsea.
Kante was continuously linked to a move away from Stamford Bridge the whole summer. The midfielder’s uncertain future at Chelsea had attracted the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
As per The Guardian, United made contacts to sign the French World Cup winner.
The whispers about Kante’s departures gained prominence due to Chelsea’s lovesick pursuit of West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is a ‘big fan‘ of Rice and still wants him at the club.
Coupled with Lampard’s irritation regarding the French midfielder’s repeated absence due to injuries, the whispers were destined to begin.
The financial uncertainty after the COVID-19 pandemic and Chelsea’s unsuccessful pursuit of Rice meant that no deal was possible.
Kante staying at Chelsea is sad news for Man United.
United were hoping that the arrival of Kante would help them in fixing their shaky defense. With Matic aging and United competing in the Champions League, they need depth. Kante was available and signing him is a no-brainer. We’d have also liked to see him and Pogba replicate their national team performances.
United desperately need a new defensive midfielder to help their defense. Besides Kante, Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde are also being tracked by United.
Ngolo Kante is valued at €70 million by Transfermarket.
