Double injury boost: Mason Mount and Amad Diallo could return vs Ipswich Town

Manchester United could receive a timely double boost ahead of their Premier League clash against Ipswich Town.

The Red Devils endured a nightmare start to the campaign, suffering an embarrassing 2-0 defeat to Hull City in their opening league fixture.

Mount had not trained since picking up a knock against Paris Saint-Germain in pre-season and missed the opening encounter.

It was a major surprise to see Amad Diallo also absent from the matchday squad, and it was later revealed that the winger had picked up a niggle in training.

According to the Daily Mail, Mason Mount could be fit again after impressing in pre-season. Diallo also suffered a “minor” injury and could return on the right flank against the Tractor Boys.

Their potential returns would be a huge boost for head coach Michael Carrick as he continues his search for the right balance in his starting XI.

If both players receive the green light, Carrick could waste no time throwing them straight back into the starting lineup.

Diallo could reclaim the right-wing role, allowing Bryan Mbeumo to move centrally and spearhead the attack.

Benjamin Sesko has only recently returned from his shin injury and may need more time to regain his sharpness.

Mount could also be handed an immediate starting role, with Youri Tielemans potentially making way for the returning midfielder.

Mount and Andrey Santos had started four consecutive games together in pre-season before the 27-year-old suffered an injury, bringing that run to an abrupt end.

United will face Ipswich at Old Trafford on Sunday, and Carrick will be aiming to get three points on the board.
