Donny van de Beek heading towards Manchester United exit door ahead of summer transfer window

Donny van de Beek will explore his transfer options before leaving Manchester United this summer.

The Dutchman moved to Old Trafford in 2020 with a big reputation after impressing everyone with his performances at Ajax. However, his stay at United has been a huge disappointment.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Van de Beek will look for options this summer as he wants to play regularly next season.

The midfielder has been on the sidelines since he suffered a knee injury against Bournemouth in January.

Van de Beek should leave Old Trafford to reboot his career

In three years with United, Van de Beek has made just 60 appearances.

He played ten games during the 2022/23 campaign, six of which came from the bench.

When Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signed Van de Beek, many people questioned what role he would perform as United already had Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes and Nemanja Matic in their squad.

The 26-year-old has struggled with both form and fitness. He was loaned out to Everton but failed to shine at Goodison Park.

Erik ten Hag’s arrival at United was tipped to be a turning point in Van de Beek’s career after their successful stint together at Ajax.

However, the Dutch international has failed to revive his career, and he must move on.

He will struggle to play regularly for United with Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Fernandes ahead of him in the pecking order.

United have been linked with Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount. If he does switch to the Theatre of Dreams, Van de Beek will see even less game time.
