Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has agreed to join Everton on loan for the rest of the campaign, reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano reports.
The Netherlands international was the subject of interest from Crystal Palace earlier this month, and it appeared that they were in pole position to land his signature.
However, the Toffees hijacked the move last night. They agreed a loan deal with the Red Devils. Van de Beek has now finalised personal terms ahead of his temporary switch.
The deal will be officially announced on transfer deadline day.
Our view:
Van de Beek was heavily linked with the Toffees last summer, but then-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blocked his potential loan exit.
He has since managed just 380 minutes across 14 appearances, and this has seen him dropped from the Netherlands squad lately.
Both Palace and Everton were prepared to hand him regular game time. It is unsurprising that the Dutchman has opted to join the latter.
The Toffees are lacking a number 10 option in their squad. Van de Beek would be a quality addition as he can also play in a deeper midfield role.
The £120,000-per-week star should receive regular first-team football for the rest of the season, which could boost his international prospects.
Van de Beek will return to Old Trafford this summer. A strong loan showing could also see him revive his United career under the next manager.
