Diogo Dalot stands out for Man Utd in Arsenal defeat

Manchester United left-back Diogo Dalot was the stand-out performer for the Red Devils during the 1-0 Premier League defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.

The Red Devils went into the game without several key players. Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford returned to team training in the lead up, but did not make the matchday squad.

Hence, United were obviously underdogs against the Gunners. A lack of defensive discipline from Casemiro gifted the Gunners with the opening goal in the 20th minute.

Arsenal were unable to double their advantage and credit must go to the defence and goalkeeper Andre Onana. Onana made a string of quality saves to keep the score at 0-1.

Dalot was also fantastic from the left-back position. In our view, he was the stand-out performer as he managed to see out the threat of Bukayo Saka with relative ease.

Saka was probably carrying a minor injury from the previous game, but Dalot showed his own quality, winning an impressive eight out of his 11 ground and aerial duels.

The Portuguese also won 100 per cent of his tackles (5/5) and 100 per cent of his take-ons (3/3). He also made three clearances and provided one key pass for Alejandro Garnacho.

Garnacho had a clear sight on goal with plenty of time and space to shoot, but he fluffed his lines.

Dalot has had a good individual season. Him and Garnacho have been consistent starters for United over the course of the campaign and have managed to stay injury-free throughout.

The €35 million-rated star managed to win his battle against Saka in the reverse fixture at the Emirates Stadium and he replicated the same at Old Trafford with another fine display.
