Dimitar Berbatov calls for Manchester United to sign £108m attacker: report

Manchester United favourite Dimitar Berbatov believes his former side should secure the signature of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund during the next transfer window.

A report earlier this month claimed that United are favourites to land the former Manchester City graduate, particularly with him keen on a move to Old Trafford.

Obviously, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will have to break their transfer record to sign the highly-rated winger and Berbatov feels the club should go ahead with their pursuit of Sancho.

“Is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer going to sign him for Manchester United? Why not? Coming from my time there, I would like to see him go to Old Trafford,” he told Betfair.

Sancho, who is valued at £108m, has been in sublime form for Dortmund this season and he has already contributed 13 goals and 13 assists in the Bundesliga, where BVB are third on the table.

The youngster would provide Solskjaer with a genuine right-sided winger with a keen eye for goal but the deal may be dependent on United possibly finishing in the Champions League places.

Aside from United, Chelsea have recently been credited with an interest in Sancho despite the fact that they have reached an agreement to sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax at the end of the season.

The Blues will have more funds on the table after their recent transfer ban and United could find themselves on the backfoot, suppose they miss out on Champions League football for the second year running.
