Diallo, Mbeumo & Cunha: Carrick could unleash exciting Man United attack vs Tottenham after injury boost

Manchester United winger Amad Diallo looks ready to make his long-awaited return from injury when club football resumes.

Diallo dropped a massive hint on Instagram over his potential return on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old suffered an injury just before the Premier League curtain-raiser and is yet to make an appearance this campaign.

He could now return against Tottenham Hotspur during the Premier League game at Old Trafford on October 10.

United head coach Michael Carrick has placed huge faith in Diallo since taking charge.

Despite struggling for consistency last season, the Ivorian continued to receive regular opportunities to start and will be eager to repay that faith.

Carrick could unleash new attack vs Tottenham

We believe Carrick could throw Diallo straight into the starting XI against Spurs if he is declared fit.

The £19 million-rated winger could return on the right flank, where his pace, movement and ability to take on defenders could give United a different dimension in attack.

Diallo developed a strong understanding with Bryan Mbeumo last campaign and could look to build that chemistry even further.

Mbeumo could move into a central role and spearhead the attack, particularly with concerns surrounding the fitness of Benjamin Sesko.

The Slovenia international missed the clash against Fulham after suffering a shin problem and remains a doubt for the next encounter.

It remains to be seen whether Sesko will be able to make a swift return from the setback.

Mbeumo looked dangerous when deployed as a striker during pre-season.

He is not a traditional striker but playing him closer to goal could give United greater pace and unpredictability in the final third.

Matheus Cunha could then move to the left wing, potentially leaving Marcus Rashford among the substitutes.

Cunha showed exactly what he can offer from the left against Fulham, producing a superb goal after drifting towards the flank rather than staying in a central position.

Carrick must stop the experiment of using the Brazilian in the number nine role.

Cunha appears more suited to operating from the left and should be given the freedom to build the chemistry United have been missing in attack.

Rashford could provide an excellent option from the bench, particularly if United need fresh attacking legs to exploit tiring defenders late in the game.
