Left-back Luke Shaw has agreed a new deal with Manchester United until 2019.
The 22-year-old only recently made his return to first team duty after being sidelined with an ankle injury picked up against Swansea City on 30 April.
Shaw’s new contract will see him stay at Old Trafford until 2019.
In fact, the Sun are today reporting that the England international agreed the new deal over the summer. It had not previously been announced.
Luke Shaw made his first appearance of the season in our 4-1 thrashing of Burton Albion in the EFL Cup last week, playing the entire second half. Jose Mourinho had previously announced he was available for his return in the match prior, versus Everton. However, he has not made an appearance nor even been named among the substitutes in either of the two Premier League matches we have played since returning to full fitness.
In fact, the defender has only made 32 Premier League appearances from a possible 120 for us since his £30+ million move from Southampton more than three years ago. This has been due to a mixture of injuries and lack of form.
Mourinho has publicly criticised Shaw in the past and the youngster’s future at Manchester United has been under scrutiny for nearly a year now.
